at Communisis brings £4m cost savings
Marketing services provider Communisis is
restructuring to make annual savings of £4m.
It is closing a cheque production facility in Manchester and moving production
to Leeds. The Leeds site will be
reconfigured with some direct-mail print being outsourced. Turnover £208.3m,
1,380 employees.

Restaurant
application for Eldon Square shopping centre in Newcastle could mean 250 jobs
A planning application for a £17m restaurant quarter
within Eldon Square shopping centre in Newcastle has been submitted by owner
Intu. It is expected that about 250
permanent jobs will be created once the outlets are open. It is expected that
works will start on site in early 2014 for an opening around Easter
2015. Intu is already investing in the
shopping centre, which is currently undergoing a £22m revamp.

Denby
Pottery secures £7m finance for international expansion
Derbyshire pottery maker Denby Pottery has secured a
£7m finance facility with Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance to assist its rapid
international expansion. The company
has increased overseas turnover by 300 per cent and is now looking at new
markets in Russia and India. Denby
employs 785 staff and over the past three years its annual turnover has grown
from £30m to £45m.

Grant
secured for expansion by Devon-based food manufacturer Little Pod
Devon-based food manufacturer Little Pod, which
specialises in chocolate and vanilla products has secured a grant from the
Heart of the South West LEP's Rural Enterprise Grant Programme. The funding will allow it to expand its
product lines and enlarge its offices and manufacturing space.

Europlus
Direct acquires new offices near Leeds Bradford Airport
Europlus Direct, the Yorkshire-based sales and
marketing service provider, has acquired new offices near Leeds Bradford
Airport, thanks to 450k funding from HSBC. The 6,100 sq. ft. site will also
house founder Jim Harts other company One Global, a multilingual recruitment
and language translation firm.

invested in north east by Northstar Ventures means 1,600 jobs created
Northstar Ventures, the Newcastle-based venture
capital company, has made a major contribution to the economy of the region
since it was founded in 2004. It has
invested £75m in 400 small and medium sized businesses across the region,
helping to create 1,600 jobs. Turnover £3.2m.

Park
Group raises trough £4.5m share placing to fund business growth
Park Group, the Merseyside voucher and pre-paid card
business, has raised £4.41m through a new shares placing aimed at funding its
next phase of growth, including expansion of its flexecash product, growth of
its online trading systems and expansion into Europe. Park Group will also invest in web, IT and
infrastructure.

UK
and US expansion for Screenreach Interactive through partnerships with pub
operators
Screenreach Interactive, the Newcastle-based
interactive pub entertainment developer, has secured partnerships with pub
groups and a fruit machine company, and hopes to introduce its ScreachTV
technology to every pub across the UK.
The plug-and-play device is backed by Northstar Ventures, Hotspur
Capital and other investors. Screenreach Interactive is also expanding into
the US.

CleanSky
funding secured by Sigma Components
Sigma Components, a manufacturer of
precision-engineered components and fixings for the aerospace sector, has
secured 1.8 EUR million funding from the CleanSky Program to develop
composite pipe assemblies for use in aero engine applications. The 18-month project, which is supported by
Rolls-Royce, will see Sigma engineers working in consortium with TWI Ltd in
Cambridge.
