Major London power plant brings potential new jobs

iCon Infrastructure is to fund the construction of a 19MW combined heat and power plant in London as part of a consortium including EEA and 2OC.  The development of the £70m plant could create jobs. It will provide heat and power under long-term contracts to Thames Water Utilities and National Grid.

New Billingham recycling plant brings 250 new jobs  

250 new jobs will be created when engineering design firm K Home International has signed a deal with SNF oil and Gas to oversee the development of a new specialist chemical plant in in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees. The site will be one of the largest SNF emulsion production facilities. Turnover £23.2m, 40 employees.

Armourworks invests in new Gloucester premises with potential new jobs

Armourworks, which provides blast protection and armour systems, is expanding into a second unit at Gloucester Business Park in Gloucester, to enhance new product development, manufacturing and distribution.  It has taken an additional 9,050 sq. ft. of space.  The expansion could create jobs.

Management appointments: New executive appointed by Transcend Corporate

Birmingham-based Transcend Corporate, which specialises in acquisitions, divestments and fundraising, has added a seventh member to its team.  Neil Smith joined Transcend from Deloitte.  The firm has a number of transactions in process and is experiencing a sustained increase in activity.

Charlie’s Stores opening Carmarthen department store with 30 new jobs

Charlie’s Stores is expanding with the opening of a department store in Carmarthen, creating 30 new jobs. The shop will open in June 2013 on the site of a former Focus DIY superstore in Pensarn.

Coventry based engineering company expects new jobs

Coventry based engineering company Penso is looking to create 100 jobs to aid its expansion. Funding has been provided by the governments Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI). 140 employees.

EPOS Group acquires RSA Systems

EPOS Group, a Kent-based company that specialises in electronic point-of-sale systems, has acquired Lancashire-based RSA Systems as part of its expansion strategy. RSA technical specialist Jonathan Measures has joined the EPOS Group support team.

£200,000 investment secured by Tyne & Wear training

Group Horizon, a Tyne & Wear training company, has secured £200,000 from the Finance For Business North East Growth Fund to help it expand across the UK.  It has secured a contract with a building services company in the South West and Birmingham. Turnover £3.5m, expected to reach £7m in the medium term.

150 new Glasgow jobs in KPMG

KMPG, a professional services firm, have announced that they are creating a new tax centre of excellence in Glasgow’s financial district in summer 2013, creating 150 new jobs, with the financial assistance of a Regional Selective Assistance grant of up to £1.7m.  Turnover of £698.1m and currently employ 10,150 staff.

Major contract secured for Warrington restaurant with potential new jobs

Lancashire building firm Construction Partnership UK has secured the contract for a £1.2m restaurant in Warrington. The 7,500 sq. ft. development is a joint venture between Muse Developments and United Utilities. The contract could create employment opportunities. Turnover £12.4m, 50 employees.

10 year lease on Northumberland site creates 130 new jobs

Oil field service provider Archer has signed a 10-year lease for the whole 22,000 sq. ft. site at Eddie Ferguson House in Northumberland, creating 130 jobs in the next two years.  Turnover £86.9m and currently employs 101 staff.

Page & Moy Travel Group relocates HQ to Market Harborough creating 50 jobs

Page & Moy Travel Group owned by All Leisure Group have moved their head office to Market Harborough, Leicestershire, creating up to 50 new jobs. The move is expected to save the group 1.5m.  The enlarged group posted revenue of 127.4m in 2012 up by 58.5% on the previous year.  The group currently employ 303 staff.

Re:Systems opens Manchester office

Re:Systems, the Derbyshire-headquartered digital communications agency, has opened a new office in Manchester as part of its expansion strategy. It will provide mobile development and support for website design, ticketing and online customer relationship management services, from the new premises. 30 employees.

£150,000 funding secured by ltraSoC Technologies

ltraSoC Technologies has secured 150,000 of funding from the Technology Strategy Board.  It will work on the spEEDO (Energy Efficiency through Debug suppOrt) project in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. The project will conduct research into increasing energy efficiency in electronic systems.
