New renewable energy power plant creates 15 jobs


West Midlands-based Intervate Ltd is establishing a 3.5-megawatt renewable energy power plant after securing a 20-year lease on a 1.25-acre property in Cradley Heath.  When fully operational in 2013 the plant will produce enough electricity each year for 8,500 houses.  Intervate is adding 15 employees to its team of 7, to operate the plant.

40 new jobs at Premier Inn


The UKs largest hotel brand Premier Inn has received 5.8m investment from its parent company hotel and restaurant group for the development of a 115-bedroom Premier Inn hotel in Solihull in the West Midlands. Forty jobs are being created as a direct result.

Launch of engineering consultancy means new jobs


Teesside-based Px Group has formed a multi-disciplined engineering consultancy division, which will trade as Px Engineering Consultants. The division was created through the integration of Simpson Coulson, acquired in March 2011. The division employs 50 staff and further employment opportunities are expected.

Potential new jobs in web development agency


Studio Mashbo, a growing web development agency, is moving into a larger 1,200ft office in Liverpool. Its expansion could create employment opportunities. The company designs websites for firms, charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations.

Rail ticketing system creates potential new jobs


Smart421 Technology Group has secured a five-year contract with Rail Settlement Plan, to create and manage a self-service ticket collection system for rail passengers.  The cloud-based system will be able to scale up to a billion tickets a year by 2018 without the need for further hardware investment. The contract could create employment opportunities.

Doubling production at Plymouth factory means new jobs


Medical technology firm Becton Dickinson has invested £9.5m in a new steriliser unit at its Plymouth factory.  The investment will enable it to double production and secure jobs in the 720-strong workforce at the plant.  New posts will also be created.
