£34m rail contracts secured by Signalling Solutions Limited


Signalling Solutions Limited, a joint venture between Alstom and Balfour Beatty, has secured three contracts worth £34.8m from Network Rail. The joint venture is to renew signals on part of the Great Western Main Line to help prepare the line for electrification.  The contracts could create employment opportunities. Turnover £69.7m, 360 employees.

New JCB Academy in Staffordshire


Multinational construction, demolition and agricultural equipment company JCB, headquartered in Rocester in Staffordshire, is to investment £22 million in the development of a JCB Academy.  The plans for the new sixth form centre were approved by the East Staffordshire Borough Council.

New solar farm development for East Hampshire


London based utility scale solar plant developer Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd is to build a new wind farm in Lovedean in East Hampshire.  The company has a turnover of £12,551,775.

£30m investment in new HQ by Leicester City Council


Leicester City Council is to invest £30 million in the construction of new council offices.  Structural engineers are currently finalising plans for the development.  In the interim, staff at council headquarters and the customer service centre are being relocated to premises in Leicester City Centre.

Croydon supermarket opening means 300 jobs


WM Morrison Supermarkets is building a new store in Croydon, which is expected to open in summer 2013. Recruitment for 300 vacancies at the store will begin through Jobcentre Plus in early 2013. Turnover £17.7bn, 131,200 employees.
