Monmouthshire Building Society appoints Vice Chairman
Monmouthshire Building Society has appointed Hayden Warman as vice chairman. He joined the society as a non-executive director in 2010. The society had assets of £819m for the year to 30 April 2012, up from £742m the previous year. Pre-tax profits were £2.7m.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service appoints two new associate directors
Shelagh O’Leary joined the trust as Associate Director of Organisational Effectiveness and Education, and Graeme Jackson assumed the role of Associate Director of Human Resources.
O’Leary’s previous role since 2007 was as Service Director (People and Development) for the National Policing Improvement Agency. There she was responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and delivery of workforce strategy, training, education, professional development and assessment and selection services, amongst many other functions, for 43 police forces.  She has also worked for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Jackson was previously Head of HR for the Scottish Ambulance Service. In this role, Jackson was responsible for leading a similar range of HR-related functions for a comparably sized workforce and has the benefit of bringing with him an understanding and appreciation of the context of the ambulance service.
Arcadia appoints Group HR Director
The owner of brands including Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins, has appointed a Group HR Director
Heather Pinder assumes the new role at Arcadia Group. Previously she was BHS’s HR Director
Sarah Gillett will now assume the role of HR Director at BHS. She joins from clothing chain Wallis, also part of Arcadia Group, where she was also the HR Director. Sarah Gillett was also the Head of HR at household furnishings retailer Habitat for ten years
Directory enquiry service 118 118 appoints Marketing Director
Directory enquiry service 118 118 has appointed HSBCs former head of digital communications Lisa Walker as its UK and Ireland marketing director. The company has an annual turnover of £36.6m and employs 1820 staff.
Friend Life appoints HR Director
The life assurance company has promoted its Head of HR to the role of HR Director - International and Group Functions. Claire Aitken assumed the new role at Friends Life this month.
In her previous role as Head of HR at the company, Aitken was a generalist HR strategic partner to the international business and group corporate functions.
Aitken was also the HR Director for the Royal Bank of Scotland between 2001 and 2007. Prior to this, she held a senior HR role at Diageo
Hlw Keeble Hawson – Commercial property team expands
Law company Hlw Keeble Hawson has strengthened its commercial property team in Leeds with four new appointments, including new partner Richard Larking, increasing the team to 17 across three offices in Leeds, Sheffield and Doncaster. Richard Fergusson is managing partner of the Leeds office. Turnover £10.9m, 180 employees.
Effective Communication – Management appointments
Effective Communication, a Cardiff-based communications agency, has appointed Miff Riley as business manager and Katherine Williams-Davies as senior account manager, as part of its business development and expansion strategy. The company has a number of major clients including Principality Building Society, Acorn, Glamorgan Cricket, and Jelf Insurance. Alastair Milburn is managing director.
WYG Appoints Group HR Director
International multi-disciplinary consultancy WYG has appointed a Group HR Director.
Karen Brookes assumed the role at WYG yesterday. Her initial focus will be to enhance talent development recruitment and retention processes throughout the Group, and she will work closely with the business to ensure the successful execution of the Group's growth initiatives.
Total Reward Group Recruits Europe’s Head of Global Mobility
Total Reward Group has bolstered its Global Mobility Outsourcing business with a new Senior Consultant.
Patricia Kollinsky joins the reward consultancy firm from her previous role as Head of Global Mobility at Aviva Europe. She has more than 20 years of global mobility management experience in organisations such as Merrill Lynch, NatWest and Deutsche Bank.
Kollinsky will lead the firm’s global mobility consulting services. She will join the team taking on account management responsibility for existing clients such as Ipsos and Rentokil Initial and will lead the company’s global mobility consulting services.
