The Hartree Centre, a high performance-computing centre at Sci Tech Daresbury in Cheshire, has secured a £19m government grant to help develop technology that makes super computers more efficient. A second grant of £11m will fund the advanced computing capability for a radio telescope, facilitating research into the origins of the universe. The projects could create 10,000 jobs.
