shops create 100 new jobs at Yate Shopping Centre
More than 100 new jobs are being created at Yate
Shopping Centre with the opening of Marks & Spencer Simply Food, Sports
Direct and Costa Coffee over the next few months. Work on the extension started in 2012 after
pre-lets were agreed with the three retailers and up to 100 construction
works are employed on site by contractors ISG Pearce.

Cumbrian renewable energy business EcoLogicLiving
has secured a further £150,000 investment from The North West Fund. The company currently has 22 staff and said
it planned to recruit up to ten more people over the coming year and grow
turnover from £1.8m to £4.5m by March 2014

Highfield Garden Centres is investing £2.2m in the
business and creating new jobs. It is
expanding its retail space by 1,500 square metres to 5,300 square metres,
with work due for completion in autumn 2013. Turnover is expected to increase

Gloucester housing development means potential new jobs
Linden Homes has started work on a £25m development
in Gloucester, including 254 new homes, a cafe, office space and a restaurant. The development will transform 2.4 hectares
of land previously occupied by Gloucestershire College of Art and Technology,

Construction company Morgan Sindall has secured a
contract to build a £24m office facility in Glasgow, as part of the Clyde
Gateway regeneration project. The
project will create 120,000 square feet of office accommodation spread across
a new five-storey building. The

to Devon industrial park means 150 potential new jobs
Gladman has completed £2m of infrastructure works in
preparation for businesses to move into a nine-acre extension to Cullompton
Business Park in Devon. Gladman has invested heavily into the project, which
will provide space for an estimated 150 workers. The park will meet demand
for new build development from companies requiring expansion space.

Convergence Programme funding brings jobs to Cornwall
Western Power Distribution is investing 6.1m to
redevelop its site at Tolvaddon, Cornwall, with a new office, engineering and
storage facility. It has secured 2.2m funding for the project from the ERDF
Convergence Programme. The new facility will secure 9 existing jobs and
create a further nine jobs by 2015. Turnover 323.3m, 1,500 employees.

Redevelopment
of Newcastle Central Station means potential new jobs
East Coast and Network Rail are investing £8m to
upgrade Newcastle Central Station, with funding provided by the Department
for Transport. The improvements,
designed by Ryder Architecture, include a glazed pedestrianised area, new
retail space, and a new information centre. The development could create
jobs. Turnover £665.8m, 2,780 employees.

with Cirrusstratus creates 15 jobs
Surrey-based WorkPlaceLive and Cirrus Stratus, who
offer desktop services across a number of industries, have joined forces
under the name WorkPlaceLive. Their merger has created 15 jobs. The firm employ a combined 18 workers and
hope to hire a further 15 by 2015.

London headquarters for Google with new leisure premises creates jobs
BAM Construct is preferred bidder for a 300m
contract to build new headquarters in London for internet company
Google. A three-year construction
programme to deliver 1m sq. ft. of offices will start in October 2013,
potentially creating employment opportunities. The offices will comprise five multi-storey
buildings, with office space above shops, cafes and restaurants.

AA Global, which provides translation and
interpreting services, is expanding its operations in Hull, one year after
opening its office in the city. It is
creating 100 new roles, mainly for freelance translators and interpreters,

Everards Brewery is planning to convert The
Horseshoe pub in Oakham, Leicestershire, into a convenience store. The pub is
no longer viable because of falling trade.

development means 40 jobs expected
Scottish Enterprise is part-funding District 10, a
£1.7m development designed to support the creative industries sector in
Dundee. The development is expected to
create 40 jobs and generate £10m for the local economy over 10 years. Funding
has also been provided by European Regional Development Fund, Matthew Trust
and the Scottish government.

The Greenock Arts Guild has created 50 new jobs at
The Beacon Arts Centre in Inverclyde and further jobs are expected. The £10m centre opened in January 2013,
replacing the Greenock Arts Guild Theatre.

Barclays has launched Bridges Into Work, in
partnership with National Apprenticeship Service, Tomorrows People and The
Princes Trust. The programme aims to find work with SMEs for 10,000 young
people. Barclays is also doubling the
number of apprentices it is recruiting into its own workforce to 2,000.

Specialist golf retailer American Golf recorded a 3%
increase in sales to 133m in the year to 31 January 2013. It plans to open 30 new stores over the
three years to 2016, including new ladies stores, creating 250 new jobs.
Sales reached record levels, helped by Europe winning the Ryder Cup against
the US.
