Iconic pram maker Silver Cross – Overseas Growth

International expansion has boosted performance at the premium pram manufacturer Silver Cross, the Skipton company accounts have revealed.
Silver Cross said it had broken through in Central and South American markets for the first time in 2011. Since the year-end, the nursery brand opened its first ever stand alone store in Hong Kong after sales increased by 47 per cent in Asia alone from 2010 to 2011 with major growth achieved in South Korea and China.
This year Silver Cross have opened a Flagship Store in an upmarket Mall in Hong Kong and have further expanded their overseas sales via their distributor network.
In the UK the new nursery furniture ranges are proving very popular as is their Surf Pram System.
The struggling Silver Cross business was brought out of administration in 2002 and has since leveraged the strength of the brand to transform it into a successful global business.
A robust balance sheet, with shareholder funds of £4.2m with no bank debt, means Silver Cross was well-positioned for the future.
